Privacy policy
A plain-language explanation of the limited information this website processes and the choices available to visitors.

Information we process
When you use the contact form, the site receives the name, email address, enquiry type, subject and message that you choose to submit. Please do not send payment details, passport information, travel documents or sensitive medical information.
When you request the Safari Starter Checklist, the site receives the email address you submit, the signup page and a controlled source or campaign label. It also records delivery status and secure access data. If you select the optional planning-email box, the consent wording version, source and time are recorded. The checklist form does not ask for your name.
Hosting and security infrastructure may also process technical information such as an IP address, browser information, requested URL, timestamps and security logs.
How information is used
South Africa Safari Guide determines the purposes described in this policy and acts as the website's data controller. Privacy questions and requests can be submitted through the contact page.
Contact details and message content are used to answer enquiries, assess correction requests, respond to technical reports and consider appropriate partnership discussions. Checklist addresses are used to deliver and reissue the requested file. Optional planning emails are enabled only after an affirmative checkbox choice and email confirmation.
Checklist delivery does not depend on marketing consent. Analytics consent is separate from email consent. Personal information is not sold.
Accounts, bookings and email delivery
The website offers no visitor accounts and does not directly process safari bookings or payments. The free checklist is delivered through Resend, subscriber and consent records are stored in Supabase, and the checklist file is held in private Supabase Storage. These providers may process information in other countries under their own security and contractual arrangements.
Every optional planning email will provide an unsubscribe route. Unsubscribing stops optional planning emails without removing access to a checklist already requested. A fresh checked signup from an unsubscribed address requires confirmation before optional email is reactivated.
Retention and security
Enquiry information may be retained for as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain an appropriate business record, resolve a correction or technical issue, and meet applicable legal or security requirements. Information that is no longer reasonably needed should be deleted or anonymised where practical.
Unconfirmed marketing choices should be removed or anonymised after a short operational period. Delivery-only checklist addresses are reviewed for deletion after about 90 days unless they remain needed for access, security or a request. Active email records are retained while subscribed and reviewed for relevance. A minimal suppression record may be retained after unsubscribe, bounce or complaint so optional email is not sent again by mistake. Short-lived rate-limit data is retained only for abuse control.
Reasonable safeguards are used, but no internet transmission, email provider or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Analytics and consent
When Google Analytics is configured for this website, it loads only after you explicitly accept analytics. You may reject analytics and continue using every public guide and planning tool. You can reopen Analytics settings through the footer and change your choice later.
When configured and accepted, analytics may process the page path and title, browser or device context, approximate geographic context and selected interaction events. The website does not intentionally send contact form contents, names, email addresses, payment information or unique personal identifiers to analytics. Google Signals, advertising personalisation, remarketing and user IDs are not enabled by this website.
Your consent choice is stored locally in your browser under a versioned preference key. If no analytics measurement ID is configured, accepting analytics does not load Google Analytics or send analytics events.
External websites and future tools
External websites operate under their own privacy notices. Future affiliate links may allow a partner to process referral, enquiry or booking information under that partner's policy.
Access, correction and deletion requests
Depending on applicable privacy law and the circumstances, you may ask to access, correct or delete personal information associated with an enquiry or checklist request. You may unsubscribe from optional email through the link in the message. Submit other requests through the contact page. Identity may need to be reasonably verified before a request is completed, and limited records may be retained where reasonably required for security, suppression or applicable legal obligations.
Children's privacy
The contact service is not designed to collect personal information from children. A parent or guardian who believes a child submitted personal information can use the contact page to request review and deletion.
Policy changes
This policy may be updated when the website, contact process, service providers or applicable requirements change. A meaningful revision should receive a new visible update date.
